Asset Reliability

Maintenance practice in the Energy sector remains driven by reactive first line policy. Why? As critical assets fail, companies create maintenance work order after work order, until the root cause of failure is lost. As maintenance backlogs increase to an unmanageable level, companies focus predominantly on reacting to equipment failures. The answer? We need a new kind of focus, on criticality and RCM (Reliability Centred Maintenance)/FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) techniques.
