The aerospace and defence industry includes both government and commercial industry and is involved in research, development, production, service and disposal of military and commercial equipment and facilities to meet a very diverse field of commercial, industrial and military applications and applications. Increasingly this is being undertaken in an environment of reducing budgets, increasing costs and long term partnering agreements that require both government and industry to operate in new and innovative ways – for example the growth of “power by the hour” in the commercial sector and “contracting for availability” in the defence sector.
Current Issues
The big fundamental challenge is to ensure that the end to end supply chains are operating efficiently and in the most effective manner to meet the requirements of the final customer regardless of whether that be the Warfighter, a frequent flyer, or first time Passenger.
